2009 Honoree 2009 A Wild Affair March 16, 2008 Gala

The Living Desert will celebrate their 18th Annual Gala, “A Wild Affair”, on Sunday, March 22, 2009 beginning at 5:00 p.m., to help support our ongoing community programs and conservation efforts.

Chaired by Peggy Bernthal, this incredible evening will include cocktails, a delicious dinner prepared by Le Vallauris, music, live and silent auctions, a film presentation, and a special multimedia wildlife show.

Our Live Auction items include the following:

3 day/3 night stay at The Four Seasons Resort Lana’i at Manele Bay.
7-day Caribbean charter for two (2) aboard the luxurious MV Wind Surf.
A fabulous cocktail party at The Stephen B. Chase Administration Building for Fifty (50).
Dinner for eight in Your Home catered by Le Vallauris.
3 day/3 night stay on “The Island of Turtles”, Canouan Island in The Grenadines.
4 day/4 night stay at one of the 450 member Small Luxury Hotels of the World.
6 day/6 night stay at Zulu Nyala, a five-star Safari and Game Reserve in the heart of Zululand.

During the event, we will be honoring Mr. Jeff Corwin with the 7th Annual Tracks in the Sand conservation award in recognition for his contribution to the conservation of endangered species and ecosystems around the world, and as founder of Eco Zone in Norwell, MA.

Animal Planet audiences best know Jeff as host of THE JEFF CORWIN EXPERIENCE, one of the most popular shows on cable television. The series reaches over 13 million viewers in the United States and is viewed in more than 70 countries worldwide. Along with CNN’s Anderson Cooper and Dr. Sanjay Gupta, Jeff co-hosted the highly acclaimed documentary PLANET IN PERIL in 2007 which examined our changing planet. Scheduled to debut in November, 2008 on Animal Planet,The Vanishing Frog with Jeff Corwin represents a partnership between Animal Planet and The Clorox® Company who have joined forces to focus worldwide attention on the deadly fungus that is destroying frogs and other amphibian populations around the world.
